SFCRM sports an array of features comparable with the best in the business. Of course, it includes the usual slew of data entry and list screens that enable you to add, edit and list the data records for all your business objects. It also offers:
  • Account-centric, contact-centric or opportunity-centric perspectives, enabling you to choose your preferred mode of work.
  • The ability to establish multi-way linkages between accounts, contacts, opportunities and activities, so that you can analyze your data from multiple perspectives and gain complete insight into the sales processes that are most effective for your business.
  • Calendaring features with a familiar Outlook-like user interface, allowing you to schedule one-time and recurring events and link them to your accounts and contacts.
  • Easy-to-use and easy-to-configure data entry, view and list screens.

In addition to these standard ones, SFCRM offers numerous features found in only the most high-end CRM applications. Here is a sampling of them.
Complete visibility. The user interface for all the major data objects — accounts, contacts, opportunities, and activities — enable the user to see all related data in one view. Related data from subordinate objects is presented in the same view. For example, when looking at an account record, you can examine its detail information as well as all the related contacts, activities, opportunities, notes and so forth.
Rapid, accurate searches. You can rapidly locate data based on specific filter criteria. Applying a filter criterion is as simple as choosing an option from a dropdown menu. Typical response times for such searches are under two seconds, so the application feels as snappy as a traditional client-server application. If you wish to find records that aren't defined by any of the available filters, there is also a "quick-find" feature that you can use to rapidly locate your data without having to go through the process of creating a filter.
Custom filters. You can search your data based on custom filters that you create. Moreover, the filters can involve any subordinate objects necessary. For instance, you can create a filter involving accounts, opportunities and activities, that shows you all the accounts that had a total opportunity value of $50,000 or more, that are assigned to specific territories, on which there has been no activity.
Complete email integration. SFCRM includes a complete, integrated email client as part of the application. It enables you to send as well as receive email, and automatically links all your email messages with the appropriate contact records. The email client works with any mail server that supports SMTP and POP3 or IMAP, including Microsoft Exchange, Novell Groupwise, sendmail, qmail etc.
Import and mass edit. Like most other CRM applications, SFCRM offers the ability to import your accounts, contacts and opportunity records into the system. You simply provide a CSV (comma-separated values) file that contains the data records to import, and SFCRM does the rest. It checks for and rejects duplicate records, ensures that lookup fields have the correct values, and uses simple common-sense measures to keep your data clean. It also tracks import histories, and enables you to "back out" the set of records in an import, via a simple interface for deleting the records you just imported.
But in addition, SFCRM offers something most others don't: The ability to perform bulk edits on your data. For example, suppose you have a large number of accounts of type Reseller, and you wanted to change all their territories from Northeast to Northwest. All you need to do is create a CSV file containing the account ids you want changed and the new territories for those accounts. Importing these records will instantly update all the appropriate accounts.
Most other vendors will charge for professional services to perform these kinds of tasks.
Business analytics. SFCRM includes a powerful, easy-to-use report builder that enables you to create reports on any segment of your data, filtered according to any criteria you choose. Data elements can be rearranged using simple drag-and-drop operations. The reporting engine is capable of displaying data both in tabular and chart form. You can also export these reports into your favorite spreadsheet application (e.g., Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, KSpread, etc.) for further analysis, or you can save them in CSV format for off-line processing.
Advanced user administration. SFCRM offers full control over the menu items and data to which a particular user has access. The administrator can also control the initial layout of the menu items in a particular user's display. (Users can then customize their display to suit their individual tastes.) In addition, administrators can determine the territories to which a particular user has access, and those which a particular user owns. This enables very fine control over the data records available to a particular user.
